Export and Investment Fund of Denmark is the result of a merger of the three state funds – Vaekstfonden (The Growth Fund), EKF Denmark´s Export Credit Agency (EKF) and the Danish Green Investment Fund who all became subsidiaries under EIFO on 1 January 2023. These previous funds were closed down on 1 April 2023.

EKF

EKF was established in 1922 as Denmark´s official export credit agency. EKF helped to promote Danish exports by making it possible and attractive for customers abroad to purchase goods from Danish companies. To do so, EKF helped to obtain financing and insured companies and banks against the economic and political risks involved with international trade. EKF will carry on the activities of EIFO. EKF celebrated our 100 year anniversary in 2022: Click here for some random picks from the long history of EKF (in Danish).

Vaekstfonden (The Growth Fund) was a state investment fund. Together with banks and private investors at home and abroad, Vaekstfonden selected and developed companies that Denmark could not afford to miss out on. Vaekstfonden made direct investment in upstart companies and in private funds as well as providing loans and guarantees to SMEs. EIFO will carry on the activities of Vaekstfonden.

The Danish Green Investment Fund was established in 2014 as an independent state fund who offered loans and co-financed investments with the aim of promoting green transition. The fund provided loans to private companies, public housing organisations, public companies, and institutions whose assets were separated from the assets of the state and the regions, and who could obtain loans in the private market. EIFO will carry on the activities of the Danish Green Investment Fund.
