EIFO has issued a Buyer Credit Guarantee to Ostfriesische Volksbank eG and the German company MPC OSE Offshore GmbH, securing the financing of three low-emission offshore wind specialist vessels from Esbjerg Shipyard A/S. Around 50 Danish SMEs are subcontractors to the project.
With the support of EIFO, Esbjerg Shipyard A/S has entered into an agreement with the German company MPC OSE Offshore GmbH to build the first three of up to six high-tech, low-emission offshore specialist vessels, known as Offshore Survey and Service Vessels (OSSV).
The steel hulls of the vessels are being built in Poland, while the outfitting takes place at Esbjerg Shipyard, which involves around 50 Danish subcontractors in the process.
Esbjerg Shipyard is about to complete construction of the first vessel – with great satisfaction from the German clients while the next ones have already been commissioned with the second hull expected to arrive in Esbjerg for outfitting in Q1 2026.

Significant Danish Economic Interest
Given Denmark’s substantial economic interest in the project, EIFO is providing a buyer credit guarantee of just under DKK 180 million. This guarantee covers 80 percent of a total loan of DKK 224 million, which is being provided by a German banking consortium led by Ostfriesische Volksbank.
“This credit guarantee strengthens Danish shipbuilding and maritime exports within the offshore wind industry,” says Jens Hestbech, Director at EIFO Large Corporates and responsible for issuing the guarantee for the project.
“We have great confidence in the parties behind MPC OSE Offshore. MPC Capital are professional and experienced investors in the maritime segment, O.S. Energy are competent within this niche market, and Esbjerg Shipyard builds high-tech vessels that set new standards for flexibility, functionality, and CO2 reduction,” he continues.
The issuance of this buyer credit guarantee contributes to Danish exports and supports Danish jobs in the maritime industry and among Danish SMEs.
EIFO Supports Export, Jobs, and Green Transition
Chief Commercial Officer at EIFO Large Corporates, Peter Boeskov, points out that the transaction has a highly positive impact for Denmark:
“The issuance of this buyer credit guarantee contributes to Danish exports and supports Danish jobs in the maritime industry and among Danish SMEs. It promotes the transition to renewable energy by helping increase the capacity of specialised vessels for the offshore wind industry,” says Peter Boeskov, continuing:
“As these are low-emission vessels, the transaction also contributes to the sought-after CO2 reductions in the supply chain of energy projects. Furthermore, the installation and servicing of more offshore installations is strengthened, which improves energy independence and thereby enhances Danish and European resilience.”
About the Project
The German investors MPC Capital GmbH and offshore specialist O.S. Energy GmbH have entered into a partnership to build a new generation of low-emission service vessels for offshore wind farms, including those in the North Sea and Baltic Sea. This is being carried out through the company MPC OSE Offshore GmbH.
The ambition is to construct up to six Offshore Survey and Service Vessels (OSSVs), which will be used for various tasks throughout the entire lifecycle of wind farms – from commissioning to decommissioning.
The construction is taking place in collaboration with the Danish Esbjerg Shipyard A/S and with a buyer credit guarantee from EIFO.
